GASTON, JOHN E. (1819-1836). John E. Gaston, Alamo defender, son of widow Rebecca (Warfield) Gaston and stepson of George Washington Davisqv, was born in 1819. At the time of the Texas Revolution he was a resident of Gonzales. Gaston arrived at the Alamo as a member of the relief force from Gonzales on March 1, 1836. He died in the battle of the Alamo on March 6, 1836.
