GOLDEN ACRES, TEXAS. Golden Acres, a residential development southeast of Pasadena in southeastern Harris County, derived its name from the slogan "a golden opportunity" publicized by developers. A post office operated there from 1946 until 1959, when mail was delivered from Pasadena. The population was 400 in 1949 and 1960, when it was last recorded. The community had two businesses in 1949 and grew to five somewhat later. In the 1980s state highway maps showed six churches, a school, and numerous dwellings at the site.
