GALLINAS CREEK.
Gallinas Creek rises three miles west of Oakhill Ranches in southern
Bexar County (at 29°11' N, 98°33' W) and runs southeast
for twelve miles to its mouth on Galvan Creek, two miles south
of Leming in northern Atascosa County (at 29°01' N, 98°28'
W). It traverses flat to rolling terrain surfaced by clay and
sandy loam that supports mesquite and grasses. The name is Spanish
for "hens."
