GAL CREEK. Gal Creek, also known as Warden Creek, rises four miles northwest of Alderbranch in southeastern Anderson County (at 31°43' N, 95°24' W) and runs south for five miles to its mouth on Ioni Creek, two miles northwest of Denson Springs (at 31°39' N, 95°23' W). The stream, which is intermittent in its upper reaches, traverses an area of nearly level to moderately steep terrain surfaced by sandy and clayey upland soils that support stands of oak, hickory, gum, and pine trees. The land is used mainly as woodland and for agriculture. Gal Creek was formerly known as Warden Creek, after S. M. Warden, who owned a land grant along its banks.
