HADDON, JOHN (?-?). John Haddon (Haden, Haddan, Haddin) was in Texas before May 15, 1824, the day on which he was chosen lieutenant of the San Felipe company of the Austin colony militia in an election held at the house of James Cummins,^qv alcalde^qv of the District of Colorado. On July 29, 1824, as one of Stephen F. Austin's^qv Old Three Hundred^qv colonists, he received title to a sitio^qv of land on the east bank of the Colorado River a few miles below Columbus in what is now Colorado County. The census of 1826 classified him as a farmer and stock raiser aged between twenty-five and forty. He had a wife, two sons, and a daughter.
