HALE CITY, TEXAS. Hale City, in central Hale County, was platted in 1891 but failed two years later, when expectations of a railroad were not met and a drought drove away the population. In 1893 its remaining residents joined with those of Epworth, two miles away, to move themselves and their buildings to nearby Hale Center.
