HACKBERRY CREEK
(Brewster County). Hackberry Creek rises just south of the Peña
Blanca Mountains and just west of Horse Mountain in northeastern
Brewster County (at 30°02' N, 103°09' W) and runs southwest
for seventeen miles to its mouth on Maravillas Creek, 4½
miles southeast of Maravillas Gap (at 29°52' N, 103°17'
W). It traverses an area of steep to gentle slopes, surfaced by
variable soils that support scrub brush and sparse grasses.
