HACKBERRY CREEK (Hansford County). Hackberry Creek rises in the Shapley oilfield in north central Hansford County (at 36°23' N, 101°22' W) and runs northeast to its mouth on the Beaver River, in Texas County, Oklahoma (at 36°35' N, 101°03' W). The flat, barren, sandy landscape of the creek's upper reaches gives way to local escarpments, with brush and grasses supported by deep sandy soils.
