HOG CREEK (Grayson County). Hog Creek rises 3½ miles southwest of Southmayd in west central Grayson County (at 33°36' N, 96°50' W) and runs southwest for nine miles to its mouth on Ray Roberts Lake, 2½ miles northeast of Tioga (at 33°31' N, 96°54' W). It traverses flat to rolling prairie, surfaced by dark, commonly calcareous clays that support mesquite, various grasses, and cacti. The region has served as range and crop land. Hog Creek originally emptied into Range Creek until the lake was impounded in 1987.
