INDIAN HARBOR ESTATES, TEXAS. Indian Harbor Estates is a lakeside community located east of State Highway 144 about four miles southeast of Granbury in central Hood County. This development began in the late 1960s with the construction of Lake Granbury. Paul and Bob Leonard, Jim Anthony, and Leland Hodges, sons and sons-in-law of Obadiah Paul Leonard,qv who cofounded Leonard Brothersqv department store in Fort Worth and was an extensive pecan grower in Hood County, formed the Republic Land Company to develop a new subdivision along the lake. By 1990 Indian Harbor Estates had 691 residents. That number had increased to 2,620 by 2000.
