IRON ORE CREEK. Iron Ore Creek rises 1½ miles east of Pottsboro in north central Grayson County (at 33°45' N, 96°38' W) and runs southeast for 12½ miles to its mouth on Choctaw Creek, five miles northwest of Ambrose (at 33°42' N, 96°27' W). The stream is intermittent in its upper reaches. It traverses generally flat terrain with local shallow depressions, surfaced by clay and sandy loams that support water-tolerant hardwood trees, conifers, and various grasses. The area has served as range and crop land.
