JABONCILLOS CREEK (Webb
County). Jaboncillos (Jamoncillos) Creek, also known as Jabonoso
Creek, rises thirteen miles northwest of Callaghan in north central
Webb County (at 28°02' N, 99°32' W) and runs northeast
for twenty miles to its mouth on Chucareto Creek, six miles northeast
of Encinal in southern La Salle County (at 28°05' N, 99°15'
W). It rises in rolling prairie and descends to flat terrain with
locally shallow depressions. Soils in the area are clay and sandy
loams that support mesquite, grasses, chaparral, and water-tolerant
hardwoods.
