LAKE LIVINGSTON STATE RECREATION AREA. Lake Livingston State Recreation Area is on the banks of Lake Livingston off Farm Road 3126, six miles southwest of Livingston in Polk County. The 635.5-acre park was built by the Trinity River Authorityqv in the 1960s. The state acquired the land for the park in 1972 and 1973. The heavily wooded terrain supports a wide variety of wildlife, ranging from raccoons and opossums to warblers and other woodland birds. Park facilities include camping and picnicking areas, three boat ramps, a marina, a bathhouse, and a beach for swimmers.
