LAKEVIEW, TEXAS (Franklin County). Lakeview is on State Highway 37 eight miles northwest of Mount Vernon in northwestern Franklin County. In 1896 Lake View (as it was spelled) had a one-teacher, one-room school that served a district with thirty-five white students. During the 1930s the community had two churches and a school. By 1985 only widely scattered houses remained. In 2000 the population was thirty.
