LAMMBURG, TEXAS. Lammburg was nineteen miles northeast of Jourdanton in far northeastern Atascosa County. It was named for Joe Lamm, president of the Planter Gin Company of San Antonio, who began to develop the area in the early 1900s. Lammburg received mail weekly from 1905 to 1916. Though development is said to have peaked in 1907, after which the gin burned and Lamm sold his store, in 1914 the community had a country post office, the Lamm Mercantile Company, a general store, and a cotton gin. By 1936 Lammburg was no longer shown on county maps.
