LIBERTY, TEXAS (Wood County). Liberty was a name shared in Wood County by a school, a school district, and two churches, one east of Quitman and one north of Hawkins. The Liberty church community four miles east of Quitman on State Highway 154 in central Wood County apparently never had a post office, and no population figures are available. The church served scattered farms in the area in the 1930s, and little appeared to have changed by the 1980s, when the church and at least one business stood at the site.
