LIVE OAK, TEXAS (Hays County). Live Oak, ten miles northeast of San Marcos in eastern Hays County, was founded about 1860 on the route of the old Nacogdoches Road. The farming area later became part of the Uhland community, a mile to the north, and only a cemetery remains of the original settlement.
