LOCKHART ACADEMY. Lockhart Academy in Lockhart, probably the first school in Caldwell County, was incorporated by the Texas legislature on September 5, 1850. William Larremore, Louis C. Simms, Jr., I. J. Goode, Marcus Trumble, and John Montgomery were trustees. The nonsectarian school probably held classes on the first floor of the Masonic lodge, since the building had been donated for school and religious purposes.
