MARTÍNEZ, FRANCISCO (?-?). Francisco Martínez sailed to Texas as translator in the fourth expedition of Alonso De León and as captain in the fifth. In 1690 he came again, with Domingo Terán de los Ríos, and was sent in search of a parallel maritime expedition on the Gulf coast. He reached the coast on July 7, 1691, and, after exploring five days without finding any sign of the maritime expedition, returned to Terán's camp.
