MALLET, PAUL (? -1753). Paul Mallet, a French Canadian voyageur and explorer, was probably born in Montreal, Canada, the son of Pierre and Madeline Mallet. He accompanied his elder brother, Pierre Antoine Mallet,^qv to Santa Fe in 1739 and participated in Fabry's failed attempt to ascend the Canadian River in 1741-42 (see MALLET EXPEDITIONS). In 1744 he married Marie Jeanne Barié and settled at Arkansas Post. They had three children. Mallet died there in 1753.
