MENARD COUNTY (Judicial). Menard County was established for judicial and other purposes on January 22, 1841. Its territory included most of what is now Tyler County and part of the future Hardin County; Town Bluff was the county seat. Menard County was abolished by a Texas Supreme Court decision, Stockton v. Montgomery (1842), which declared all judicial counties unconstitutional. Present Menard County, in Southwest Texas, was established in 1858.
