MISSION BEND, TEXAS. Mission Bend is a large residential community located off State Highway 6 about four miles northwest of Sugar Land and twenty miles southwest of Houston. The development straddles the boundary of Fort Bend and Harris counties and began about the late 1980s. By 1990 Mission Bend had a population of 24,945. That figure increased to 30,831 by 2000, and the community had several schools. Many residents commuted to Houston.
