MOORING, TEXAS. Mooring is on the Southern Pacific Railroad four miles north of the intersection of Farm Road 50 and State Highway 21 in far northwest Brazos County. The community was first listed in the Texas Almanac in 1954-55, but no population figures were given. In 1948 maps showed a church, a school, one business, and dispersed dwellings. In 1964 the population was 150; in 1970 it was 100; from 1973 to 2000 it remained steady at eighty. In 1990 the community had a single business, a cotton gin.
