MOUND CITY, TEXAS. Mound City, on Farm Road 2022 on the Anderson-Houston county line two miles north of Percilla, was settled in the 1840s and was named for a small rise in the local terrain, known as Houston's Mound. In the mid-1930s the small community had a store, a church, and a number of houses; area children attended school in Percilla. After World War II most of the Mound City residents moved away, and by the mid-1960s only a few widely scattered houses remained in the area.
