MAGNOLIA, TEXAS (Montague County). Magnolia was a short-lived farming and oil community in north central Montague County. The catalyst for community development was the discovery and production of oil in the 1920s by the town's namesake, the Magnolia Petroleum Company. No evidence suggests that a post office or a school operated at the site, and no population estimates are available for the community.
