MAGILL CREEK. Magill Creek rises on the slopes of Magill Mountain four miles northeast of Valley Spring in northwest Llano County (at 30°54' N, 98°47' W) and runs east for 4½ miles to its mouth on Pecan Creek, eight miles northwest of Llano (at 30°52' N, 98°44' W). The creek traverses an area of the Llano Basin characterized by terrain that is variously flat to rolling to steep and covered by soils ranging from shallow and stony to deep, fine sandy loams. Vegetation consists primarily of open stands of live oak and mesquite. The creek was named for an early settler.
