MUSTANG CREEK (Somervell County). Mustang Creek rises two miles north of Arena Lake in southwestern Somervell County just north of the county line (at 32°08' N, 97°50' W) and runs southeast to enter Mustang Lake three miles northwest of Walnut Springs in north central Bosque County. Upon leaving the lake the stream flows south. Mustang Creek traverses an area of variable topography, the soils of which consist largely of shallow, stony, clay loams. Juniper and oak trees, as well as cacti, chaparral, and various grasses, are common in the vicinity. The land in the area has been used as range and crop land. After a total course of 6½ miles Mustang Creek empties into the East Bosque River three miles west of Walnut Springs in central Bosque County (at 32°03' N, 97°48' W).
