NIMROD, TEXAS (Liberty County). Nimrod was on the Houston, East and West Texas Railway forty miles northeast of Houston in northwestern Liberty County. The heavily forested area was opened up to extensive lumbering by the construction of the railroad in the late 1870s. By 1905 Nimrod was the site of a sawmill and lumbering camp. It appeared on the official railroad and county map of Texas as late as 1918, although more contemporary maps do not show the community.
