NOONAN, TEXAS. Noonan is on the Southern Pacific line near Chacon Creek and six miles west of LaCoste in east central Medina County. It developed in 1881 around a railroad switch station on the Galveston, Harrisburg and San Antonio Railway and was named for George H. Noonan, a local rancher. A post office opened there in 1910, with Valentine Mangold as postmaster; it closed in 1915. A general store with telephone connections was the only business reported in the community by 1914. A few homesites remained in 1947. By 1982 Noonan had two dwellings.
