NEW LOCO, TEXAS. New Loco was on U.S. Highway 83 eight miles south of Wellington on the Childress county line in Collingsworth County. It was established in 1932 when the Fort Worth and Denver Northern Railway bypassed an older community named Loco, three miles southeast of New Loco in Childress County. Otto Berger opened a cotton gin in New Loco, and a general store was built by three brothers named Manahan. A railroad depot was constructed. New Loco had a very brief life, going out of existence during the Great Depressionqv of the 1930s.
