OAK CREEK (Presidio County). Oak Creek rises in the Oak Hills in north central Presidio County (at 30°10' N, 104°17' W) and flows southeast for ten miles to its mouth on Saucita Creek, one mile west of U.S. Highway 67 (at 30°10' N, 104°08' W). Its course crosses desert mountain terrain, canyonland of volcanic rock, inactive alluvial fans, and wash deposits of sand and gravels. The soils in the area are generally light reddish-brown to brown sand and clay loam, often rough and stony. The vegetation is primarily sparse grasses, cacti, and desert shrubs.
