OAK CREEK
(Young County). Oak Creek rises near the intersection of Texas
Highway 114 and Farm Road 2652 in northeast Young County (at 33°17'
N, 98°33' W) and runs southwest for eight miles to its mouth
on Salt Creek, near the upper end of Lake Graham (at 33°14'
N, 98°36' W). Much of the creek's drainage area is in the
Mames oilfield. Indian Mound Cemetery is on the creek near its
confluence with Salt Creek. The surrounding rolling prairie is
surfaced by clay loams that support mesquite, grasses, mixed hardwoods,
and pine forests.
