PAUL N. MASTERSON MEMORIAL FOREST. Masterson State Forest, off State Highway 62 two miles south of Buna in southern Jasper County, is a 620-acre demonstration forest for forest-management practice. It was donated to the forestry schools of Texas A&M University and Stephen F. Austin State University from Mrs. Lenora Masterson of Beaumont around 1986. Mrs. Masterson retained a life estate in the property, the revenues of which are to be used after her death to provide scholarship funds for the two forestry schools.
