PILOT KNOB (Bosque County). Pilot Knob (at 31°56' N, 97°36' W) is a hill 2½ miles east of Meridian in central Bosque County. Its summit is 991 feet above sea level and rises about 49 feet above State Highway 22 to the south and 91 feet above Tom's Branch to the north. Pilot Knob lies in a portion of the Grand Prairies generally characterized by rolling prairie with locally steep limestone slopes. Vegetation consists primarily of oak, juniper, grasses, chaparral, and cacti growing in deep to shallow stony clay and clay loam soils.
