PAINT MOUNTAIN. Paint Mountain is sixteen miles north of Terlingua in southwestern Brewster County (at 29°33' N, 103°38' W). The peak, at an elevation of 3,462 feet above sea level, rises 340 feet above Alamo de Cesario Creek, just to the north. The local soils are shallow and support sparse vegetation.
