ROBERTS, INGHAM S. (1871-1932). Ingham S. Roberts, attorney and civic leader, son of Henry Philip and Laura J. (Wagner) Roberts, was born in Houston, Texas, on January 29, 1871. After attending the public schools of Houston and studying privately, he was licensed to practice law when nineteen years old. He enlisted in the Texas Volunteer Guard in July 1894 and rose through the ranks to retire on December 31, 1913, as major and judge advocate general. During World War I^qv he held the rank of major in the infantry. Roberts was married to Mary V. Frymier in 1896; they had three children. He was a noted historian and was a member of the Sons of the Republic of Texas,^qv president of the Harris County Historical Society, and a fellow and vice president of the Texas State Historical Association.^qv With Dermot H. Hardy,^qv Roberts edited the Historical Review of South-East Texas (2 vols., 1910). He died in San Antonio on October 9, 1932, and was buried in Houston.
