RESACA DE LA PALMA SITE STATE PARK. Resaca de la Palma Site State Park is on the Resaca de la Palma off U.S. Highway 281 two miles southeast of Olmito in Cameron County. The park is near to but does not include the Resaca de la Palma battlefield, where United States forces under Zachary Taylor engaged the Mexican army in May 1846. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department bought the site from private owners in 1978 for $2 million. Facilities include picnic areas and restrooms.
