R. W. FAIR FOUNDATION. The R. W. Fair Foundation of Tyler was established in 1936 by East Texas oil executive Robert Walter Fair and his wife, Martha (Mattie) Fair. The foundation makes grants to organizations engaged in culture and the arts, community improvement, health and human services, education, medical research and mental health, recreation, religion, youth activities, and other related causes. In 1992 the foundation had assets of $14,517,398 and an income of $2,219,600. That year the foundation made 139 grants totaling $1,296,161. Wilton H. Fair served as president.
