SAN ANTONIO SURPRISE. The San Antonio Surprise, a weekly newspaper, was started under the combined efforts of James P. Newcomb and A. W. Gifford. The paper was published from June 26, 1879, until as late as 1894. The Surprise is considered to be a forerunner of the San Antonio Light.
