SOLÍS, GASPAR JOSÉ DE (?-?). Fray Gaspar José de Solís, guardián of the College of Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe de Zacatecas, is best known for his inspection of the missions of that college in Texas. His diary kept on the inspection tour in 1767 and 1768 presents a valuable contemporary account of the missions, country, and Indians of Texas.
