SCHUMANSVILLE, TEXAS. Schumansville is on Farm Road 725 ten miles northwest of Seguin in western Guadalupe County. It was probably named for August Schumann, who bought the land from I. S. Johnson and sold it to German immigrants in the 1840s. A school was built in 1851. In 1904 Schumansville had two one-teacher schools for forty-nine students. A post office operated from 1904 to 1906. By 1933 the population was estimated at only ten; it grew to twenty by 1945, 110 by 1966, and 450 by 1968. Schumansville reported 400 residents in 1988 and 1990. By 2000 the population was 650.
