SPRING CREEK, TEXAS (Throckmorton County). Spring Creek is on a local road just north of the Brazos River in extreme northeast Throckmorton County, two miles south of the Baylor county line and one mile west of the Young county line. A post office was established on December 6, 1877, with William C. Parks as postmaster; it served the area until around 1941. By 1892 the settlement had twenty-five citizens, including a justice of the peace and county commissioner, and two general stores. The population was about 130 during the 1930s and 1940s before declining to twenty by 1965. County maps in 1980 showed Spring Creek to be in an isolated region; a dirt road connects the area to communities in Baylor and Young counties. In 2000 the population was thirteen.
