STRAIN, TEXAS. Strain was on the Beaumont, Sour Lake, and Western Railway twenty-five miles west of Beaumont in southwestern Hardin County. The townsite was laid out in the wake of the construction of this rail line through western Hardin County in 1908 and named for C. W. Strain, assistant passenger-traffic manager for the railroad. The site, however, never developed as planners had hoped. The last known reference to the community was on a deed record dated 1929.
