SHORES CREEK. Shores Creek rises four miles northeast of Tell in southwestern Childress County (at 34°24' N, 100°22' W) and runs southeast for twelve miles before entering the North Pease River six miles northeast of the intersection of U.S. Highway 62/80 and Farm Road 1440 (at 34°17' N, 100°13' W). Several springs along the creek, the sites of Indian campsites in earlier times, flowed freely year-round until the 1920s. Vegetation in the rangeland along the creek is sparse due to the area's moderate to steep slopes and shallow, silty soil.
