SALADO CREEK (Starr County). Salado Creek rises in the southeast corner of Starr County (at 26°20' N, 98°36' W) and runs south for six miles through Cobby Lake; the stream dries out two-tenths of a mile from the Rio Grande and a mile west of Cuevitas (at 26°16' N, 98°36' W). The streambed traverses flat to gently rolling plains with local depressions and a shallow surface of clay loams that support scrub brush and grasses.
