SALADO CREEK (Kleberg County). Salado Creek, also known as Bovido Creek, rises seventeen miles west of Riviera in southwestern Kleberg County (at 27°18' N, 97°59' W) and runs east for fifteen miles to its mouth on Los Olmos Creek, two miles south of Riviera (at 27°16' N, 97°49' W). The name Bovido is altered from that of the Spanish grant to Gabriel Treviño, Rincón de la Bóveda. Salado Creek traverses flat to gently sloping terrain with local shallow depressions, surfaced by clay and sandy loams and loose sand that support scrub brush, water-tolerant hardwoods, conifers, and grasses.
