SPRING CREEK GAP. Spring Creek Gap, a break in a line of hills, is located three miles southwest of Iredell in western Bosque County (at 31°55' N, 97°53' W). The gap occurs at an elevation of approximately 1,170 feet above sea level, and the surrounding hills rise an average of 100 feet above it. Spring Creek Gap lies in an area of the Grand Prairie characterized by topography varying from flat terrain with local deep and dense dissection to rolling prairie with locally steep limestone slopes. Vegetation consists primarily of oak, juniper, grasses, chaparral, and cacti growing in deep to shallow stony clay and clay loam soils.
