TEXAS LAND COMPANY. The Texas Land Company, organized in Florida shortly before the Texas Revolution under the leadership of Thomas Jefferson Green and Achille Murat, invested in Texas lands, mostly on the Sulphur Fork of the Red River. Green arrived in Texas in 1835 with capital to launch large-scale operations but abandoned the venture to serve in the revolutionary army.
