TALLY, DAVID (?-?). David Tally enrolled as one of Stephen F. Austin'sqv Old Three Hundredqv colonists as early as February 1822, when his character certificate was filed in Kentucky. He voted in an alcaldeqv election in the colony in December 1823 and on August 16, 1824, received title to a league of land on the east bank of the Brazos River in the area of present northern Brazoria County and a labor of land west of the river, now in Austin County. The census of 1826 listed Tally as a farmer and stock raiser aged between twenty-five and forty; his household included his wife, Polly, and two young sons.
