TALLY, DAVID (?-?). David Tally enrolled as one of Stephen F. Austin's^qv Old Three Hundred^qv colonists as early as February 1822, when his character certificate was filed in Kentucky. He voted in an alcalde^qv election in the colony in December 1823 and on August 16, 1824, received title to a league of land on the east bank of the Brazos River in the area of present northern Brazoria County and a labor of land west of the river, now in Austin County. The census of 1826 listed Tally as a farmer and stock raiser aged between twenty-five and forty; his household included his wife, Polly, and two young sons.
